Heavenly Bodies: Versace and the Catholic Imagination at the Met Gala 2018

One of the biggest nights in celebrity style and creativity happened in grand fashion last night, The Met Gala 2018. This year's theme was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" and featured looks inspired by historical art works, figures, and ideologies of the Roman Catholic religion. Their were several common motifs incorporated within the basis of most looks including Angels, the Sistine Chapel, the Pope, and the First Communion expressed visually in garb designed by world-renowned fashion companies including Ralph Lauren, Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Tiffany & Co. and various more. But, a large variety of the night's best dressed had one common  element, and it wasn't their stunning haloed headpieces or  beaming bejeweled crosses, it was who they were wearing, VERSACE.

At first thought, many visualize vibrant colors,  gold meanders and garish prints when hearing the brand's name, but simply put, the company should have been at the top of every stylists' list when curating appropriate looks for this event. As an Italian luxury brand, that comprises their acclaimed prints around historical elements of the Roman Catholic religion, they were the perfect fit for last night's festivities and proved to be so. Dressing chart topping celebrities from all genres of the entertainment industry including Black Panther's Chadwick Boseman, to rap trio, the Migos, Versace effortlessly embodied and paid homage to the Heavenly Bodies and Catholic Imagination through fashion.
