ABOUT

At first I was simply another young girl desiring to pursue a career in the "glamorous" world of fashion.  Born in Southern Virginia, I was not, (and I still ain't) the typical fashion girl that loves luxury brands, calls herself a "fashionista" and posts the most stylish and aesthetically pleasing images on Instagram (though I'm working on it).

Like many I moved to New York City! (I know exciting right?) Went to the Fashion Institute of Technology, (Sooo LIT!) still unsure of what I wanted to do, but hey, Fashion Business Management teaches you everything so I chose to pursue that. While studying I had a semester long project created around the act of me creating a blog entitled "Modish Eccentricities"  (extremely extra, I am aware!)  and I fell in LOVE with the idea and the act of composing content on anything with a Modish. Eccentric. Anomaly. (yes, this was my tagline, also very extra).

Well, consistently blogging is a hard feat for anyone (this is why you are reading this in 2018 as opposed to 2016, but whatever) and Modish Eccentricities soon fizzled but was born was All Modish Errythang (Fun Fact: My favorite word besides my name, is Modish).  I seriously tried to maintain this blog, but I felt the name and premise did not encompass all that I wanted it to (still love the name, soon to come will be an  AME page in the navigation bar), all of which has lead us here.

The fingers of  #teamtypingfast behind this site belong to Semaj (me, yes, thats my name, thanks Mommy!) literally spelled James in the REVERSE. James,  which is a boy's name, a direct derivative of the Hebrew name Jacob, means supplanter. A supplanter is one that takes the place of another through force, strategy, scheming, "or the like." Well I desire not to take the place of someone, but to put myself in the place of happiness by  completely changing the direction of my thoughts (see, this brings in the word reverse). This change starts here and now as I stop searching  for a career that I like, and start doing something that I love.

So with that reversejames.com was born, written by an unconventional fashion girl, that just might post about Estee Lauder Companies ruling the beauty industry, the latest Vivienne Westwood collection shown at Paris Fashion Week, or the absence of common sense calls made in the latest college basketball match up between the University of North Carolina Tarheels and the Duke University Blue Devils.

So, spend some time with me while I work on my Instagram glow up, blogging consistently, and being genuinely happy as I share with you my philosophies on everything Beauty. Fashion. & Common Sense.

Welcome to reversejames.com.
